MINIATURE EXHIBITIONS

PORES & PORTALS @ SHELTER IN PLACE

2021
Basswood, paper clay, bioplastic, polymer clay, pigments, acrylic paint
18 x 20 x 30 in

Pores & Portals was a solo exhibition at Shelter in Place Gallery, Boston, MA. This miniature gallery is 1:12 scale where one inch equals one foot. The gallery emerged during the pandemic lockdown as a way for artists to continue to show large-scale work.

Bodies and houses are often imagined to be singular entities with a distinct outside and inside. In reality, both are quite porous with materials, objects and living organisms flowing in and out. This installation represents a body with no inside or outside. The skeletal, 2 x 4 walls meander through space rather than enclose it. Biomorphic forms draped through orifice-like windows as if they were slippery microbes or fleshy organs. This installation represented a body that was open and vulnerable, but also vibrant and active.

ADDS DONNA @ BARELY FAIR

The gallery, Adds Donna, presented Casanova’s work at BARELY FAIR, Chicago, 2023. BARELY FAIR is an international art fair operated by Julius Caesar. Included spaces exhibit works in 1:12 scale booths built to mimic the design of a standard fair.
